Greatest simple note app

Pretty simple note app. I really appreciate its simple interface, hotkeys support, clear font, lots of small cool features and all other. Great thanks for that!

suggestion

Thank you very much for the app. Love it! It would be great if you added the function of opening one note separately and made the 2 screen mode more comfortable to use.

authorization is required for each running

Unfortunately, authorization is required for each running on Mac OS 10.8.5. It is very uncomfortable! Please, correct it.

Awesome app!

Well, this looks interesting. Simple interface, nice font and really easy to understand. Nothing to report for now. But Id like to change font and maybe format to the note, but apart from that, awesome app, I recommend it!

Great app!

This note taking app is great! I love the GUI, sleak and simple, it perfectly fit into the Mac OS X flat design. You can add tags to your notes (love this feature). Only one small drawback: the way it handles files inside a note is not as smooth as it could be. You can add files through drag and drop, but the path of the file will be inserted. To open the file, you ultimately have to select the whole path, right click on it, go to Services > Open. All things considered, the app is GREAT and FREE! Great job!

Nice but needs a notifcation center widget

Nice and appreciate it — but there are dozens of note taking apps — and often we need to have a note handy when we have our iPhones. To have to maneuver to apps and open is too time consuming. An option to put one note on notication center would make this stellar and not just one of the pack.

It’s simple and clean, just use it!

I have been using this on iPhone, iPad and Mac for a long time now. It’s very easy to use, there is no learning curve, one of the major perks. The syncing between devices is stable and works well, I’ve never lost data. It’s one of the main reasons I use this app. The number one reason I use this app is because it avoids the plague of feature creep, like so many apps these days do. In essence, this is a basic text editor that has syncing capabilities, tagging and multiple platform support. Keep in mind that I’m a person who still uses plain text editors on a daily basis. I find that this app is a must have in my daily life when I want to exchange thoughts or lists between my devices in a easy and quick way without manual effort on my part. Bottom line, do not ask more from this app, it is supposed to be simple, why it’s in the name! This app allows you to focus on getting the job done, and creating “content”, no matter how short it may be. I need more of that in my life, rather than endless “features” and “improvements.” Thank you for keeping it simple Simplenote!

It works sometimes

I’ve been using this for notes at college, and the notes I had to review for the test have disappered with no where to find them. I lost two days of important notes. I would not recommend this to anyone who will use this for important notes.

Simple to use. Notes sync on all devices.

I’ve been using this app since it was released and I have had no issues. All of my notes are perfectly synced between my MBP, iPad and iPhone. There have been no issues thus far using Simplenote to collaborate with colleagues, family and friends using different platforms. This is a quick, clean and reliable app. Many thanks to the developer for keeping this app free!

Inconsistent Sync

First off, I would note that the simplicity and distraction free design looks great, which made me switch from Apple’s notes app for quick jotting. After several months of use, the syncing stopped functioning properly. Newly created notes would sync, but modifications to existing notes would not. I tried troubleshooting, but the only way I could get modifications to sync was to copy all the text and paste it in a new note.

I had a dream that I woke up and I got a feature update to Simplenote

LOL, then I woke up and realized it was just another “syncing fix,” the same as every other update for the past 12+ months. And yet the UI is still buggy, and the feature set is less than OS X’s built in Notes application. Save your money.

I love the service

But I really wish there was a way to hide the list of notes so you only see the note you’re writing (like minimal writing software Byword, iaWriter, etc). I love the service, love the UI, but the app has too big a footprint to use for quick notes, and constantly seeing the list of all my notes is too distracting for longer writing, so I end up using other software instead. I would pay money for a version of this app that let me just focus on the note I’m writing in.

Nice!

Works great. Can’t customize font in any way though. I wish there was an e-mail client that worked and looked this way. Very simple, sleek, and clean.

Great design, poor functionality

I love Simplenote’s concept of a sleek, clean design and basic note taking. However, lists cannot be created and text cannot be formatted with simple bold/italics/underline, making the app pretty useless when it comes to taking notes in any sort of school environment. Love the concept, but it needs functionality!

Doesn’t Work On Corporate Networks

Lovely in its simplicity and the way it maintains sync across desktop and iOS devices. But it cannot be used on networks which are secured with proxy servers, as so many corporate networks are. Rather unforgiveable oversight IMO.

Fantastic App!

Rarely do I write reviews on Apps, but I have to for this app as it is fantastic. Every time I depend on this app it always succeeds. The sign in never gets in the way like some apps, and it is always so simple to use. Not overcomplicated, just simple the way an App like this should be.

Needs folders

I really like this app, a lot, EXCEPT for the fact that the Mac version has limited capabilities, there are limited sorting options, and there are no folder options! Would love to store my notes in different folders. I want this to be my number one note-taking and text-editing app, but until there are folders, I will only be able to use it minimally. Add the folders, and I will be this app’s biggest fan!

Spins and Spins

There really needs to be a better simplenote client than this. It just spins and spins; I could accept it is taking a long time to sync, EXCEPT i have a > 300mbps download. This was a good idea ONCE long ago.

Web interface superior to desktop app

I like Simplenote. It’s an awesome service and has good Mac clients with nvAlt and Simplenote itself. If you think you need a folder structure for your notes, this is not it and I doubt you are using the app correctly; it does have Tags and a blazingly fast serach function, so no need for folders, really. Yet, the current state of the Simplenote desktop app is well behind its web equivalent. The latter allows for a preview mode for Markdown-formatted text, and also allows to ‘unpublish’ notes. The history functionality also seems to work a lot better on the web, actually, which is surprising for a web app. I would love to see the desktop app to be brought up to par with the web interface. nvAlt hasn’t been updated in a long time, and this could become my go-to app for note taking. Keep up the good work.

Cloud-Only means it’s a Non-Starter

I love the user interface, but the fact that I can’t have the option to store my notes myself means it’s a non-starter for me. If there’s one thing I’ve learned from Edward Snowden it’s that you can’t trust cloud services, and no privacy policy can stop intelligence agencies from scarfing up one’s metadata (and actual content) to track us even more. Automattic makes WordPress which has an option for us to run our own blogs on our own servers. At the very least provide us the option to store the notes on our own WebDAV servers instead.
