Requires signup for service

I downloaded hoping to be able to use it without an account, but it requires a login. I cannot sync my notes to an external server for work reasons. I cannot use this app. There’s no reason for an account if I don’t want to sync to a server. Please remove the login requirement.

Love it, but...

Simplenote is one of my favorite apps, but it drives me nuts when it doesn’t minimize when I double click the top bar, like ALL the other apps do. Please implement this “feature” so Simplenote doesn’t stick out like a sore thumb when I am driving my computer. And then Simplenote will be on my list of top 5 apps of all time once again.

Great text notes

Huge fan of Simplenote on Mac and iOS. Can’t imagine getting along without it. And the new icon is gorgeous!

Long Live Simplenote!

For years the syncing has been rock solid and plain text is powerful enough for me. I’m willing to pay for the service but “sadly” it’s free. It would be awesome if we can switch to monospace font to display code. Besides, could you please make the text brighter in dark theme? I use dark theme during the day but find it hard to read. Anyway, thank you so much for bring Simplenote to the world!

ADHD Tool

I find Simplenote to be the perfect solution for typing out anything that would take more than 2 minutes. I have Adult ADHD. I was looking for a simple text tool that could sync between my computer and my Samsung S6. It was important for me to find a program that was distraction free (sometimes less features equates to more productivity). Oh, and it also needed to look clean and beautiful. Simplenote is awesome and meets my needs. I can focus and get school work done. Thank you developers!

Simply Brilliant because

it’s Brilliantly Simple. No frills. Just gets the job done. Period.

Finally I found THE one...

The last few days I have been struggling with Google drive and Google documents, I also got I-cloud drive involved. I downloaded program after program and tried to figure them out on YOUTUBE without much success but with lots of frustration. Then I found Simple note, it is PERFECT for me, I just needed something to write notes and I like to write short stories, all will do just fine on this app.

Search “jack jill” won’t find “jack and jill"

Simplenote for iOS and the Simplenote web version have very good note search. On those apps a search for “jack jill” will find “jack and jill”. That won’t work with the Mac version (this app). It only does what’s called “phrase” or “substring search”. It doesn’t do the kind of word search we’re used to in any modern application. This bug is a frustrating limitation for people who use Simplenote the way it’s intended to be used — as a memory extender.

Woohoo! Condensed View!

Glad to see "condensed view" added. Thank you!

No monospaced fonts, no list support

So it is therefore useless to me. Sure it’s simple, but it’s so simple it serves no purpose to me.

My favorite note-taking app

By far the simplest, cleanest, most reliable text-based note-taking app I have used. Love the cross-platform utility, and the web version is priceless. I regularly reference the app on my Mac for to-do lists, long-term lists and tracking, and jotting down creative writing ideas. It doesn’t have the full features of other note-taking apps - and in that is its beauty and perfection. The sync has been 100% reliable for me (which is not true of other apps, in which I’ve lost data or data has been duplicated upon sync, including Apple’s own Notes app). I cannot say enough good things about this app.

Great app — my replacement for iPhone’s Notes

I’m not a fan of signing up for Apple’s iCloud services, and when I upgraded my iPhone, I found getting at my old Notes was proving very difficult. I spent one hour copy/pasting all of my notes into Simplenote’s notes and now I have one account across my phones/iPads/laptops. It does everything I needed from the old Notes app, plus adds a very basic tagging feature and many props to allowing a “dark theme”. Collaborating on notes is also a feature I didn’t know I wanted until trying it — restaurants to try and movies to watch being shared with the girlfriend is a great thing. One Feature Request! It would be great to more easily re-arrange notes that are pinned to the top. I am very particular about my “ranking” of these notes, and hate pinning/unpinning everything to achieve the list order I want. Thanks!

Keep it simple

Love that it is a simple note-taking app. I use Evernote for business, and when I need to put in huge amounts of information. This makes the note large, and includes other PDF’s documents, files, etc. With Simplenote, I take small clips of information that I need to record now, and reference later with quick shortcuts on my keyboard and it’s instantly in my view. Being able to do operations via keyboard only makes it super-quick. I’d say a few things could make it better: 1> I would request that the search gets better than it currently is…seems like you can search for 1 word and then…the results are sorts what you get…what about if I want to keep narrowing it down so I don’t have to sort through 100 notes? As an example, search on Simplenote and then search on nvAlt - you’ll see what I mean. Maybe let me search title AND note contents simultaneously. 2> Maybe allow for some different fonts to be used - sometimes it’s just easier on the eyes to use something else and I didn’t see an option to change this as of yet. Sync has been wonderful and was a huge pain in the past - also being able to collaborate on documents and publish to the web right from the app is a real time-saver instead of having to go online and do it via the site. 3> More keyboard shortcuts, like adding tags without having to mouse cursor over to the field 4> Option to enable Markdown in-app instead of having to go to the website for a published note to check a box that states it’s using Markdown…that’s a bummer. 5> Sort option by published or not 6> Add an icon so we can see a note is published in-app like we can in the web version Keep up the great work on this app!

Unusable on the road

You have to have a network connection via WiFi or cellular data just to look at or modify local notes on my device? Its for this reason that this app is absolutely useless for me. I found an app named Write thats an open source clone of this that doesnt need you to log into anything. Use that, not this garbage.

Basic but essential note taking app

Used Notational Velocity with Simplenote daily for years to organize scores of notes. After syncing with Notational Velocity started getting spotty, I recently started using the Simplenote app for Mac and have been very pleased. Syncing has been immediate and consistent across all my devices. The history option that enables restoring a previous version of a note is a feature Ive already had to use a few times. Using tags effectively creates folders of notes on similar topics, making those notes much easier to find. While searching for a word or phrase within a note could be improved, Command-F creates a Find box that magically appears only when using the Simplenote app (just need to first click on particular note to be searched). Overall, as long as the syncing remains dependable, this note program will be absolutely essential for me.
